What do I do at the Counseling Center?

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and provide individual therapy to students presenting with a variety of concerns and co-facilitate the STEP support group. I also provide supervision to clinicians-in-training. I coordinate the Counseling Center's Sexual Trauma Empowerment Program (STEP).

What's it like to work with me?

As a clinician, I am committed to cultivating change through warmth, humor, and fostering a sense of empowerment in my individual and group work. I hope to provide a supportive and safe space where students feel able to explore why they may be experiencing difficulty and how to move forward. I work from an attachment framework and also incorporate interpersonal process to help students better understand how they relate to themselves and others. I also like to integrate cognitive and mindfulness based interventions in my work. Although a generalist by training, some of my interests include trauma, disordered eating and body image concerns, and student-athlete mental health concerns.

What do I do at JMU outside of the Counseling Center?

I collaborate with a variety of campus departments and community partners and you might see me at one of our outreach events!
