What do I do at the Counseling Center?
As a Resident in Counseling, I help students get connected to the appropriate resources during their first appointment at the center, as well as providing individual counseling services.
What is it like to work with me?
I approach my work with clients primarily from an attachment-based perspective, integrating principles from relational-cultural theory, and Gestalt therapy into a humanistic foundation, with the therapeutic alliance acting as a sandbox for healthy interpersonal function. Outside of sessions, I make an active effort to stay well-read and well-researched on identities and presenting concerns relevant to my clients. In the counseling space, I value humor, creativity, and authenticity, and strive to create and environment where clients feel accepted and respected.
What do I do at JMU outside of the Counseling Center?
Outside of the Center, I spend a lot of time dancing (ballet!), drawing, baking, or otherwise creating things.
