Overview

Software available for use by JMU employees and students is typically available on JMU-owned computers through Endpoint Management and also in Computing Labs. Certain academic and remote-access software titles have been made available for use on personally-owned devices via the download links below.

Note: Looking for software available from your college?  Software for CISE is available at https://support.cise.jmu.edu/. CISE software is supported by CISE rather than by Information Technology.

MATLAB A high-performance language for technical computing. It integrates computation, visualization, and programming in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in familiar mathematical notation. Microsoft 365 JMU students receive a subscription to run Microsoft 365 (Office) applications at no cost for Windows and Macintosh computers. In addition, you may install it on up to 5 computers. Your subscription to Microsoft 365 will remain as long as you are enrolled as a JMU student. Microsoft 365
Nvivo Software that supports qualitative and mixed methods research. It's designed to help you organize, analyze and find insights in unstructured, or qualitative data like: interviews, open-ended survey responses, articles, social media and web content. JMU Libraries
SAS A comprehensive tool for analyzing data that facilitates statistical analysis, data management, forecasting, decision support, research, and other academic and business functions. JMU Libraries
SPSS A comprehensive system for analyzing data. It can take data from almost any type of file and generate tabulated reports, plot distributions and trends, create charts and graphs, and perform descriptive and complex statistical analyses. JMU Libraries

Endpoint Management


Endpoint Management is the ability to provide central management of JMU-owned computers and other devices. Central management of endpoints reduces risks to you and the university from unpatched and unsupported software, viruses, and other threats.

Computing Labs


General use computing labs are available to the general JMU population at various locations on campus and may be reserved by faculty and staff.  A JMU JACard is required for entry into the general use labs.
