Overview

Global X is a brand new CGE program designed to connect student mentors in their third, fourth, or fifth year at JMU with new international Dukes from all over the world! Global X provides an opportunity for student mentors to develop their leadership and cross-cultural communication skills, while new student mentees are encouraged to make meaningful connections and engage with their new campus home.

Program Structure
  1. Applications are required and accepted at the beginning of each semester. The priority matching deadline for the Fall 2019 term is Monday, September 2.
  2. Mentors will be invited to the ISSS offices (Madison Hall, 2nd Floor) for a brief interview with ISSS staff.
  3. Using the information provided within the applications, each mentor will be paired with a mentee.
  4. ISSS will send a confirmation e-mail to all applicants about their Global X mentor/mentee. Together, a mentor and mentee form a team!
  5. All Global X teams are asked to attend a kick-off event at the start of each semester, so they can meet each other and meet other teams as well.
  6. Global X teams are required to meet in person at least ten times throughout the semester, whether one-on-one, attending fun CGE events, or meeting up with other teams!
  7. ISSS will assist Global X mentors by sending them discussion topics, interesting events around campus, and other suggested activities in Harrisonburg.
  8. At the end of the semester, come to the wrap-up party with your mentor/mentee to celebrate your work throughout the semester!
