Threatening behavior for purposes of this process is defined as any actions or utterances which lead one to reasonably assume an individual intends to harm her/himself or others.

When to report

JMU faculty, staff and students should immediately report any and all threatening behavior.

To whom to report

1. Report all present or imminent threats of violence by individuals who are physically on campus or campus property to JMU Campus Police 540-568-6911.
2. Report all present or imminent threats of violence by individuals who are physically off campus property to the City/County Police 911.
3. Report all non-present/non-imminent threats of violence made by a JMU student to JMU Campus Police 540-568-6912; the Dean of Students 540-568-6468; or a member of the Threat Assessment Team.
4. Report all non-present/non-imminent threats of violence made by a JMU faculty or staff member to JMU Campus Police 540-568-6912; the appropriate academic unit head or administrative department director; or a member of the Faculty Staff Assessment Team.
