UREC offers two methods for registering for programs - in-person at UREC and online!

In-Person Registration

Register for any UREC program at the UREC Program Registration Desk (located next to the Welcome Center).

You may pay for any fee-based programs using a FLEX account at UREC.  For more information about FLEX, visit Campus Card Services. Refunds for fee-based programs are only approved if your spot can be filled by another participant. Please make individual request for refunds to the appropriate program coordinator. There is a DART machine located in the UREC lobby that participants can utilize to deposit money into their FLEX account. This DART machine also provides DART cards. Visitors and participants can purchase the cards out of the DART machine for one dollar ($0.75 for the card and $0.25 credit put on the card). They can then put money on them to use for FLEX charges.

Online Registration

Register online at urecregister.jmu.edu for all programs (this includes Group Fitness classes and Intramural Sports) and most services. Use your JMU e-ID and password to login. If you need assistance, our member services staff is available to help you with any questions you may have. Please call 540-568-8734 or visit the UREC Welcome Center for help with online registration.

Registration for Group Fitness Classes opens at 6:30am the day before the class and closes 15 minutes before the class begins. Courses will only show within the registration period on URECregister.jmu.edu!

Refund and No-Show Policies

Free Programs: If you need to cancel your registration, visit or call the UREC Welcome Center at 540-568-8734 at least 1 hour prior to the start of class. If you do not cancel and do not show up on time for a class, you are considered a "no-show participant." If you no-show three times in one semester, you will lose your online registration privileges for the remainder of that semester.

Fee Programs: See course information for refund deadlines. The appropriate UREC professional staff member implementing the program will be responsible for approving refunds.

  • A convenience fee for credit payment will not be refunded. Please allow one week for approved refunds to reimburse your credit card. 
  • A $50 fee will be assessed for any check returned by the bank.
