Welcome!
We are so excited for you to start this new and exciting journey at JMU! Orientation is crucial for you to be informed and confident as you navigate a new academic system, cultural environment, and daily life at JMU. During orientation, you will be introduced to important information and resources, as well as begin to build your network that will support you through your time at JMU.
International student orientation sessions will be held in the Center for Global Engagement in Holland Yates Hall on the second floor.
International undergraduate students must complete this form: Pre-departure Form
This form ensures that ISSS is aware of your arrival plans. There are two main options:
- Arriving on your own, supported by ISSS Staff for move-in, shopping, meals, etc.
- Arriving with family, attending only the required orientation sessions
For students arriving with family and friends, you will need to select a move-in time before 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 19. This can be done through the Housing Portal as instructed by the Office of Residence Life.
Students arriving on their own should plan to arrive at Dulles International Airport and reserve a seat on the 10:40am Megabus on August 19, so that they will arrive on campus by 12:50pm where ISSS will meet them (and their bags) at the Megabus stop on campus. From there, ISSS will guide students through check-in, the move-in process, and an orientation specifically provided for international students.
