1. Start the online application by clicking on the purple "Apply Now" button below.
2. Once you arrive on the application website, Terra Dotta, please select the term you wish to go abroad.
3. Complete the online application and submit all supporting materials.
4. Decisions will be sent out by December 1st. Upon acceptance, the student will be responsible for paying a $500 deposit to secure their spot in the program.

For priority, students must apply by the deadline. Applications received after November 1 will be accepted on a rolling, space-available basis until the program is full.

Application Materials

A completed Summer Semester Abroad Program application consists of the following components:

• General Applicant Information

• Essay - Pick one of the three essay topics and answer it in 500 words. 

  • 1. How would you describe Britain's role in the world?

  • 2. What do you see as Britain's greatest gift to the world? 

  • 3. Which living or dead Briton (i.e. Welsh, English, N-Irish or Scot) stands out to you/ do you most admire? 

• Name and e-mail address of a JMU instructor or academic advisor who can speak to your ability to succeed in a study abroad program. (No formal recommendation letter is required, and references will only be contacted if the Program Director needs more information.)

• Non-JMU students are required to submit an Official Transcript from their current university.
