These Dining Dollars will need to be spent by the end of the 2021 spring semester. Only graduating seniors will be eligible for a refund of unused Dining Dollars upon graduation.  This refund will be automatically processed and does not require an email to Card Services.

What is the Parking Fee refund?

Parking registration fees will be refunded according to the established refund policy.  Students will not be required to return their parking permits in order to obtain a refund.  The refund will be credited to your student account based on the type of permit purchased.  The refund amounts are as follows:

Permit Type Refund Amount
Full time commuter or resident $38
Part–time or Evening only $19
Remote lot only $13

Parking refunds will be processed automatically.  No further action is required for your refund.

When will I receive my refund?

Refunds will be applied to your student account on or before Friday, April 3. If you have a balance due to the university, the refund will be used toward paying that balance, with any remaining funds issued to you through BankMobile.

Can my refund be direct deposited into my bank account?

All JMU refunds are processed by our vendor, BankMobile.  If you have not set up direct deposit through BankMobile, please do so as soon as possible to avoid any delay in receiving your refund.  If you have direct deposit set up, you may want to confirm that the bank account is still active and where you want your refund to be deposited.

To set up direct deposit,

  • Log into MyMadison (https://mymadison.jmu.edu)
  • Go to the Student Center
  • Click on My Refunds in the finance section

The My Refunds link will take you to BankMobile’s website.  You will need to set up an account to confirm your identify and then select “existing bank account” or the BankMobile Vibe bank account for your refund.  Please select “existing bank account” unless you want to establish a new bank account with BankMobile. You will need your existing bank routing number and your bank account number.

If you have already created an account with BankMobile, you will need to log in using the password you entered when creating your account.  Visit https://RefundSelection.com to access your existing BankMobile account.

Once this is set up, you will receive an email when BankMobile has sent your refund to your bank.  You will be able to see when the refund was generated in your M3 account under “detailed transaction history” and on the next billing statement.

I do not want to provide my direct deposit bank information. How will I receive the refund?

If you do not want to set up direct deposit through an existing bank account, you can select to open BankMobile Vibe bank account.  If you prefer not to use either of those options, a paper check will be processed and mailed to your home address.  Direct deposit typically takes two to three business days whereas a paper check takes two to three weeks.

Will credits apply to any outstanding balances on my student account?

If you have a balance due to the university, the credit will be used toward paying that balance, with any remaining funds issued to you as a refund through BankMobile.

Will the refund have any effect on my future financial aid?

There is no direct impact on your financial aid eligibility for either the 2019-20 academic year or the 2020-21 academic year as a result of the refunds.

I am enrolled in the payment plan for the spring semester. Is my last payment still due on April 5th? Can I reduce my last payment by the amount of the credit?

The 4/5 installment payment date has been postponed until 5/5.  This refund will either reduce or eliminate your last spring payment. Authorized Users and students will receive an email when an adjustment has been processed for the payment plan.

I have money left on my Dining Dollars Gold and/or FLEX account. Will it be refunded? Who do I contact about it?

FLEX and Dining Dollars Gold account funds are not part of the refund.  All unused Dining Dollars Gold and Flex account balances will be available for use into the 2020-21 academic year. These dollars will remain available until spent or upon graduation. If you choose to obtain a refund of your remaining Dining Dollars Gold or Flex balance, you may do so at any time. Please notify CardSrvc@jmu.edu using your @dukes account. To ensure a timely refund, be sure to include your first name, last name and student identification number.

Can my refund roll over into future semesters?

A rollover option is not available.

Will JMU provide refunds of tuition and/or student fees?

Our faculty have worked tirelessly to move their in-class instruction to an on-line format to ensure your academic progress continues as seamlessly as possible. You will continue to receive course credits toward the completion of your degree and your academic coursework will continue with as little disruption as possible. Traditionally, on-line courses at JMU are priced higher due to enhanced technology needs, course credentialing standards, proctoring requirements and added instructional faculty and IT personnel/equipment demands. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university has absorbed these costs. Tuition and fees cover all costs associated with course instruction (and related instructional support). In light of these expenses and the course credits that you will continue to receive, there will be no tuition and fee refunds.

How are military benefits affected by the refund?

Military benefits are tuition-only, therefore the refund does not apply. Refunds for housing and dining will not affect your military benefits.
