Public transit is free! Save on gas and the permit fee! JMU contracts with the City of Harrisonburg to make HDPT bus service free for all riders.

Consider biking to campus. There are over 10 miles of bike lanes, more than 600 bike racks and 8 bike maintenance stations on campus to keep you going.

Register your vehicle. If you choose to drive to campus, you will need to register for a permit. Your fee will be deducted automatically each pay period.

Your license plate is your permit. Thanks to License Plate Recognition technology, you don’t need a physical parking permit to park once you’re registered.

You can pause your deduction. Not on campus for the summer? Contact our office to pause your payroll deduction until you need to park on campus again.

Keep your vehicle information current. Remember to update your vehicle information if you get a new car. You can also temporarily add a rental vehicle if needed.

Single-day permits are available. Think you might only need to drive to campus occasionally? Single-day permits are available from the web portal for $5.00 per day.
