Welcome!
Orientation is crucial for you to be informed and confident as you navigate a new academic system, cultural environment, and daily life at JMU. During orientation, you will be introduced to important information and resources, as well as begin to build your network that will support you through your time at JMU.
International student orientation sessions will be held in the Center for Global Engagement in Holland Yates Hall on the second floor.
Required Registration Session - MyMadison, SEVIS, SSN, etc.
Once you have secured housing and activated your U.S. phone number, schedule your appointment to complete:
- JMU registration requirements in MyMadison
- Immigration registration requirements in SEVIS
- Preliminary Social Security Number (SSN) application steps, if you have a GA
- Employment and payroll-related onboarding processes, if you have a GA

9:00am - 3:00pm, Holland Yates Hall – 2nd floor
As a new international student at JMU, you are required to attend orientation to learn about maintaining your F-1 status, JMU expectations, and campus resources to help you succeed. You will be able to meet returning students and staff and ask questions about what to expect during your time at JMU.
