Program Description
If you've ever wanted to spend your summer interning on an island in the Caribbean, you've come to the right place. The island of Roatan is located just off of Honduras and offers a variety of businesses and organizations perfect for student internships. Get business management experience at a brewery, communication studies experience at a resort, or supply chain management experience at a cruise terminal. Many other options are available within the areas of hospitality management, marketing, entrepreneurship, international business, project management, along with other fields. Most internships involve work five days a week, but hours and expectations could vary depending on the placement.
This program also provides the opportunity to enhance your Spanish skills in an interactive environment. Spanish is recommended, but not required to be successful in this program
Students will enroll in IB 294 and will be graded on a credit/no credit basis. All students will be evaluated based on an evaluation from their supervisor and a reflection paper.
Location Description
Roatan is a beautiful island located in the Caribbean situated off the coast of Honduras. It's known for its coral reef (complete with snorkeling and scuba opportunities), jungle trails (perfect for hiking), and rich culture (much to learn about the slow life and local populations).

Accommodations
Students will stay in apartments and receive a nominal stipend to offset meal expenses during the program. More details to come.
Additional Items to Consider
Program fee includes internship placement, orientation, health insurance, 24/7 emergency contact information, housing, small food stipend, and support in Honduras throughout the internship. Airfare and spending money are not included.
The experience also satisfies the International Business study abroad requirement and may fulfill some internship requirements for certain majors. All students will take IB 294. If students wish to receive major-specific internship credit, students can work with their major advisors on securing a course directive after the program.
Applicant Criteria
Applicants must have a GPA minimum of 2.5
Open to all class levels and majors, including graduate students.
