Program Description
Information Session
February 3 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm on Zoom
Immerse yourself in Egypt's rich history and vibrant culture through a study abroad program on the Mediterranean Sea - New Alamein City at Alamein International University (AIU). Learn Technology through a new smart city, New Alamein, while delving into ancient wonders such as the pyramids and gaining insight into modern Egyptian society.
This unique experience offers a deep dive into the country's language, traditions, new cities, and old history, providing a comprehensive understanding of this fascinating land. In this course, students will learn how Egypt builds new "Smart cities," how technology is utilized in the new world, and about sustainability.
Students will also be able to explore projects related to the use of technology and learn about various smart city concepts, such as intelligent transportation, renewable energy, computer networks, and infrastructure. The course is a mix of guest lectures, hands-on learning, and sightseeing.
Location Description
Students will spend the majority of time at New Alamein City at Alamein International University, with a trip to visit "Alexandria" and "Cairo".
New Alamein City is uniquely positioned on the northwestern edge of Egypt, where the vast sands of the Western Desert give way to the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean.

Accommodations
10-12 days at El-Alamein City, with 2-3 days at Alexandria City, and 2-3 days will be in Cairo. Housing will be mainly hotels (details will be provided).
Most meals will be provided as a part of the program.
Additional Items to Consider
Visa: on arrival $25
Name and passport info of our students: need to be sent to Egypt before arrival for background checks.
Cell phones: Students will have the option to get a sim card or do "Roaming", while getting an Egyptian SIM card may be a better choice.
Applicant Criteria
Applicants must have a GPA minimum of 2.8.
Students must have started at JMU Fall 2025 to be able to apply for Summer 2026
Open to all majors and class levels, including graduate students and non-JMU students.
