The Honors College and the Center for Global Engagement are excited to offer Honors students with an area of emphasis in Global Studies several opportunities to fulfill their practicum requirement. Honors students not in Global Studies can still participate but may not receive academic credit.

Service Learning in the Dominican Republic (1-3 credits)

Students who participated in the Global Studies Honors Seminar have the opportunity to build on their experience as a practicum student during their third year at JMU. Students can travel back to the Dominican Republic over spring break with the Global Studies students or arrange travel for a separate time on their own. Practicum students will propose and develop a project that builds on one of our initiatives. There are 1-2 credit options available for those that do not want to travel.

Application Deadline and Information:  Flexible deadline. For those who want to travel with the spring break group, practicum students must apply to the study abroad program during the fall term. For more information, please contact Felix Wang at wangch@jmu.edu.
