Study Abroad: External Programs Affiliate Benefits

Regular Affiliate Grants
Students from affiliate institutions may automatically receive $400 grants for semester programs and $200 grants for summer programs.

Regular Affiliate Scholarship
Offers students from affiliate institutions $1,000 Semester and $500 summer scholarships. Apply through JMU Center for Global Engagement by emailing studyabroad@jmu.edu with reasons needed/deserved.

Regular Affiliate Grants
Students from affiliate institutions automatically receive $300 grants for Summer Programs and $600 grants for Semester Programs.

In addition, CAPA provides need and merit based scholarships ranging from $500-$2,500 and designates several $5,000 each semester just for affiliate students.

Regular Affiliate Travel Grants
Students from affiliate institutions automatically receive travel grants of $500 for full year, $250 for Semester and $100 summer scholarships.

Regular Affiliate Grant
Students from member institutions automatically receive grants of $250 for Semester and $100 for Summer Programs.

Regular Member Scholarship
CIEE has awarded JMU with five $4,000-6,000 Open Campus Grants per term. Early application required.
Offers students from member institutions to apply for any of the $1 million in scholarship money they are eligible for (even before being accepted).

All students at James Madison automatically receive a $500 affiliation discount per semester abroad.

Alternatively, EdOdyssey offers merit-based scholarships ($100-$3,000 per semester) and financial aid (up to $1,000 per semester, $3,000 per academic year). International airfare promotions are also frequently offered to help reduce travel costs. Note: multiple promotions, discounts, financial aid, or scholarship cannot be combined. Students will receive the greatest single discount available to them.

Regular Affiliate Scholarships
Students from affiliate institutions will automatically receive a $500 program fee discount when attending a TEAN Program. Additional Affiliate Scholarship opportunities are available to JMU students going on a TEAN program.

$2,000 Off JMU Students’ Programs with Our Public Institution Grants

Because JMU is a public university, students receive a $2,000 automatic credit toward all IES Abroad semester and academic year/calendar year programs.

Regular Affiliate Scholarship
Offers all state school students, regardless in-state and out-of-state status, to automatically receive a $2,000 grant for an IFSA semester program.

Regular Affiliate Scholarship
Offers students from affiliate institutions to be eligible for the many scholarship opportunities available for students going on an ISA program.

Regular Affiliate Member Grant
Students from affiliate schools automatically receive a $5,400 Grant, as well as:

• $1,000 merit for GPA of 3.7 & above or $600 to all students for GPA between 3.0 and 3.69.
• $2000 to all students participating in our Beijing program.
• $1000 to all students participating in our Central Europe or Santiago programs.
