University Profile

National Chengchi University (NCCU) was founded in 1927. Over the past 8 decades through re-formation and development, they have upheld their motto, “Harmony, Independence, Balance and Preeminence”, and have continued to refine their teaching methods and research in order to nurture talent for Taiwan and society. NCCU attracts more than 2,000 overseas students from over 70 different countries each year. Such a number accounts for 10% of the student population and comes out on top in all national universities in Taiwan.

NCCU currently has 9 colleges excelling in the College of Liberal Arts, Law, Commerce, Science, Foreign Languages and Literature, Social Sciences, Communication, International Affairs, and Education, which comprise 34 departments and 45 graduate institutes (MA programs). There are also 27 of the graduate institutes offering doctoral programs. 

Location Description

Located in Wenshan District, Taipei City, NCCU leans on the foothills of Zhinan Mountain to its east, adjoins the Jingmei River to its west and is enclosed by the Edge Mountain System with the Zhinan  River flowing through, which taken together forms a beautiful campus surrounded by hills and water.

Accommodations

NCCU has limited on-campus dormatory and off-campus international house options. For those who do not take advantage of these options, they have student volunteers (Buddy Program) to assist students in finding suitable off-campus housing.

Applicant Criteria

Applicants must have a 2.75 GPA and be in good standing with the university. 

There is no language requirement for this university. Most course instruction will be offered in English. 

Applicants must have completed their first year of JMU before going abroad. There are exceptions for Transfer Students.

In addition paying regular tuition to JMU, participants can also expect to pay the following estimated costs to the host institution:

How to Apply

The application for admission has a number of parts. See the outline below and make certain you have completed all steps in the application process:

  • Online JMU Exchange General Application 
    Completing the General Application will allow you to select your top three universities for Exchange. Multiple Exchange Program applications do not need to be submitted.
  • Exchange University's application 
    Upon acceptance from JMU, the applicant will then complete the host university's application. The exchange program coordinator will work with applicant to provide access to the application.
