Open Recreation
Open Recreation is the drop-in use of numerous recreational activities at UREC and UPARK. From our three multi-activity centers to the badminton and pickleball courts, there's something for everyone!
Throughout all hours of operation, unstructured activities will be available to meet different recreational needs. Drop-in, rent equipment and play!

Indoor Rock Climbing / Swimming / Weight & Cardio Equipment / Disc Golf
Racquet and Paddle Sports
- Racquetball (7 Courts at UREC, first and second floors)
- Squash (1 Court at UREC, first floor)
- Table Tennis (4 Tables at UREC, second floor)
- Badminton (Available for setup in the UREC Sports Forums)
- Tennis (4 Courts at University Park)
- Pickleball (Available for setup in the Sports Forums)
Priority is given to those with prior approved court reservations.
Ball Sports
- Volleyball (2 Sand Courts at University Park, Indoor Courts available for setup in UREC MACs or Sports Forums)
- Basketball (8 Indoor Courts in UREC, 2 Outdoor Courts at University Park)
- Soccer (Indoor Courts in UREC MAC 1 and 2, University Park Multi-Purpose Turf)
- Wallyball (Available for setup in UREC Racquetball Courts)
- Floor Hockey (Available for setup in the UREC MAC 3)
- Flag Football (University Park Multi-Purpose Turf)
Running, Jogging & Walking
- Indoor Walking Track (UREC Level 3)
- Indoor Running/Jogging Track (UREC Level 4)
- On-Campus 5k Route (JMU Campus)
- University Park Multi-Purpose Turf Loop One lap around the outside of the fence at the turf is 0.4 miles.
- University Park 5k Route Contact the Senior Assistant Director for Reservations and Events to reserve this course for a special event!
