Please follow these instructions to properly check out of your room and avoid an improper check-out and a lock change charge.

For students in all non-Greek housing:

  1. Express Check Out envelopes should be available outside your hall office.
  2. After you have removed all belongings, please place your key in the Express Check-Out envelope and note your name, room, and the date on the envelope.
  3. Slide the Express Check-Out envelope (with your key in it) under your hall office door.

For students in Greek housing:

  1. Notify your House Manager of your check out.
  2. Remove all of your belongings from your room.
  3. Turn your key in, to your House Manager.

The following is always in effect:

  • Parking Services will continue to enforce all Fire Lanes and Handicap spaces. It is never acceptable for drivers to park in these areas to move out for any length of time.
  • Meters will also be enforced. Students moving out may park at meters only if they intend to pay the meter for the entire time they will be parked.
  • Vehicles should never block other vehicles for any length of time. Such vehicles may be issued parking citations.
  • Any and all parking-related questions or concerns should be directed to Parking Services

If you have any questions about the move-out process, please call the Office of Residence Life at 540-568-4663. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

If students accidently forget to turn in their key, please mail it back to the Office of Residence Life. Please place it in an envelope and ensure it is well secured (i.e., taped to piece of cardboard, index card or wrapped up as well to prevent the key from falling out during mail transit).
