Resident Adviser for 2021 - 2022 Academic Year

We currently employ over 200 students in the residence halls on campus.

RAs are dynamic leaders on a floor of residents who create positive communities and coordinate fun and educational events to enhance the campus living experience. RAs receive a salary, reduced room rent, a laundry stipend and if possible, a single room on campus. They are still responsible for paying all tuition, room & board, and fees.

Summer Facilities Assistant

The Business Operations department in the Office of Residence Life is searching for Summer Facilities Assistants to assist the Facilities Technician with tasks in the residence halls and Res Life warehouse during the months of May - August.


  • Install, deliver and move furniture
  • Make deliveries for Res Life
  • Assist in maintaining Res Life inventories
  • Help with building inspections and furniture repairs
  • Be able to follow oral/written instructions

Social Media/Marketing Assistant

The Social Media/Marketing Assistant is responsible for assisting with social media engagement, coverage, organization, content creation, design and marketing ideation.

Student Videographer/Graphic Designer

The Student Videographer/Graphic Designer is responsible for capturing video of student engagement and Res Life events, video content creation, ideation, and varying graphic design projects.

Program Adviser

Program Advisers assist all JMU Resident Advisers (RAs) with programming, motivation, and publicity, but their main focus is to help first year students in their transition to JMU.

PAs work in the Student Learning Initiatives Resources Center and receive a salary.

Facilities Assistant

The Business Operations department in the Office of Residence Life is searching for Facilities Assistants

to assist the Facilities Technician with day to day tasks in the residence halls and Res Life warehouse during

the academic year.


  • Complete work orders for furniture repairs/needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Fix and install window blinds/shades/screens.
  • Complete paperwork (work orders, appliance documentation, etc).
  • Maintain Res Life tools, vehicles, keys.
  • Assist with organizing and keeping inventory of furniture in warehouse.


  • Perform physical labor (load/unload tractor trailers, move furniture, carry up to 70lbs alone).
  • Able to follow oral/written instructions.
  • Comfortable with entering student bedrooms on occasion.
  • Comfortable using a forklift (training/certification will be provided)
