Please follow the specific driving directions and parking information for your exact Residence Hall below. Follow any posted signage throughout campus and obey all normal traffic laws.

Please note that fire lanes, accessible spaces, and access aisles will continue to be enforced at all times for the safety of the JMU community. Please do not leave a vehicle unattended for any length of time in these areas.

Dingledine & Huffman Halls

If you are coming to campus to help move out a student in one of these halls you should use I-81 Exit 245

If you have been traveling northbound:

  1. Get into the far-left turn lane, you will turn left at the traffic light onto Port Republic Road
  2. Stay in the right lane, and turn right at the JMU entrance sign on Bluestone Drive at the first traffic light
  3. You will then continue on Bluestone Drive and turn right at the first traffic light
  4. Turn into the old R7 parking lot, now Pay by Space lot, on your left behind Hanson and Chappelear Halls
  5. Proceed up the service drive entrance in front of Weaver Hall similar to what you did on move-in day
  6. Based on your hall location pull onto a grass area as you are able, to park
If you have been traveling southbound:
  1. You will turn right at the traffic light from the off-ramp
  2. Stay in the right lane, and turn right at the JMU entrance sign on Bluestone Drive at the first traffic light
  3. You will then continue on Bluestone Drive and turn right at the first traffic light
  4. Turn into the old R7 parking lot, now Pay by Space lot, on your left behind Hanson and Chappelear Halls
  5. Proceed up the service drive entrance in front of Weaver Hall similar to what you did on move-in day
  6. Based on your hall location pull onto a grass area as you are able, to park

Frederikson & Hanson Halls

If you are coming to campus to help move out a student in one of these halls you should use
I-81 Exit 245

If you have been traveling northbound:

  1. Get into the far-left turn lane, you will turn left at the traffic light onto Port Republic Road
  2. Stay in the right lane, and turn right at the JMU entrance sign on Bluestone Drive at the first traffic light
  3. You will then continue on Bluestone Drive through one traffic light
  4. Make the first right, just past the campus gate system, into the loading zone, next to Frederikson Hall
  5. Pull onto Hanson Field, similar to move-in day

If you have been traveling southbound:

  1. Turn right at the traffic light from the off-ramp
  2. Stay in the right lane, and turn right at the JMU entrance sign on Bluestone Drive at the first traffic light
  3. You will then continue on Bluestone Drive through one traffic light
  4. Make the first right, just past the campus gate system, into the loading zone, next to Frederikson Hall
  5. Pull onto Hanson Field, similar to move-in day

The University gate system will be up all week beginning Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m.

If you are coming to campus to help move out a student in one of these halls you should use
I-81, Exit 247B on Route 33 West

If you have been traveling northbound:

  1. Get into the far-left turn lane, you will turn left at the traffic light onto Port Republic Road
  2. Stay in the right lane, and turn right at the JMU entrance sign on Bluestone Drive at the first traffic light
  3. You will then continue on Bluestone Drive and turn right at the first traffic light
  4. You will turn into the old R7 parking lot, now Pay by Space lot on your left behind Hanson and Chappelear Halls
  5. Proceed up the service drive entrance in front of Weaver Hall similar to what you did on move-in day
  6. Based on your hall location pull onto a grass area as you are able, to park

If you are coming to campus to help move out a student in one of these halls you should use
I-81, Exit 245

  1. Travel West on Route 33/East Market Street and quickly get into the left lane
  2. At the first traffic light turn left onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Way
  3. You will continue on MLK Jr. Way and turn left at the second traffic light (Paul St.)
  4. Cross the railroad tracks, then turn right onto campus (Duke Drive)
  5. Proceed down Duke Drive
    • POTOMAC HALL: Turn left into the R1 Parking Lot; before D-Hub
    • GARBER HALL: Turn left onto the Ikenberry Service Dr.; past D-Hub
      • Parking will be limited for vehicles loading at Garber Hall. It is preferable for vehicles to find a place in the grass to park while loading.
      • Any vehicles stopping in the Fire Lane on Ikenberry Service Drive to load may not be left unattended for any length of time.
      • We ask that you be completely packed and ready to load your vehicle before parking. This will allow other residents the opportunity to get close to the building as well.
