Residence Halls close on Thursday, May 6, 2021 by 8:00 PM. Students typically move out within 24 hours after their last exam. If you need to remain beyond this date and time, please contact your hall director as soon as possible.

Students can choose to move out prior to exam week if their exams are online. Please work with a residence hall staff member to follow all appropriate Check Out Information.

Students have received Residence Hall Move Out Information and Check Out Procedures protocol via their @dukes email address.

Students are allowed up to three (3) helpers as long as they are all masked and practice social distancing from others while on campus.

Below you'll find important information and FAQs about the Check Out and Move Out Process.

If students need Summer Housing, housing is available through July 24th for students enrolled in classes.

Parking

If you have any questions about the move-out process, please call the Office of Residence Life at 540-568-4663. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

As move-out week approaches, here are some things that JMU Parking Services would like on campus residents to know:

  1. Residents are encouraged to move out as soon as their schedule allows. The times of heaviest move-out traffic on campus are Wednesday, May 1 and Thursday, May 2. Residents moving out on these days will be directed by Public Safety and Parking personnel and should expect congestion near the residence halls.
  2. Please completely finish packing your things before bringing your vehicle close to your building to load. Residents should limit their time parked near the residence halls to 20 minutes or less to ensure that everyone has a chance to park closely when loading items.
  3. Leaving vehicles unattended in fire lanes or handicap parking spaces for any length of time is prohibited.
