Since 1972, thousands of former Marching Royal Dukes (MRD) have marched in purple and gold. The MRD Alumni is a charter of the JMU Alumni Association, proudly comprised of a passionate constituency of more than 15,000 alumni from the Marching Royal Dukes (MRD) and Madison College Marching Band — a family that’s been growing ever since its start. Together, the group works to honor the memories that shaped their own Madison experiences, representing the interests of both the alumni community and current MRD program.

Each November, the MRD Alumni community gathers at JMU for the last regular-season football game of the season. Join for a full weekend of events – stay connected, march, or just cheer along and convene with 350+ attendees from every generation! The MRD Alumni Band band will be featured during the halftime show, performing with the current MRDs.

This is also a special weekend for the MRD program, as we welcome all band parents to campus to recognize and induct graduating seniors into the MRD Alumni chapter during a postgame pinning ceremony.
