Location and entrances

The University Health Center is located in the Student Success Center at 724 South Mason Street. Note that the health center has two entrances, within the Student Success Center on the second floor and an external entrance on the first floor at the corner of Mason Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.

Transportation and parking

Students visiting the health center are eligible to receive a code for free parking in the Pay-By-Space area in the Mason Street Parking Deck. To obtain the code, call 540-568-6178 when you have a health center appointment. Students may also park in other nearby lots in accordance with normal parking regulations.

Bus stop locations near the health center include Miller Hall, the Student Success Center, and the intersection of Mason Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.

A drop-off circle is located in front of the first-floor health center entrance, accessible from Mason Street; vehicles may not be left unattended in the drop-off circle.

Bike racks are located at the first-floor health center entrance and both Student Success Center entrances.

What to bring and when to arrive

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to allow enough time to complete the check-in process. Bring with you:

  • JACard
  • List of medications you are currently taking

Rescheduling and canceling appointments

Appointments can be canceled online through MyJMUChart or by calling the health center at (540) 568-6178. Please provide at least a one-hour cancellation or rescheduling notice. There is a fine for being late, not showing up to an appointment or not providing the required cancellation notice. If JMU is closed or delayed due to inclement weather, the health center will be on the University’s schedule. If you have an appointment during the time the health center is closed, please reschedule using MyJMUChart or by calling when the University opens.

Fees and payment options

The health center does not bill insurance, and there is no fee to see a health center provider. Services such as labs, tests and procedures do have fees (Services and Costs) associated with them. Students are responsible for payment of fees at the time of service. Payment options include check (made payable to JMU), FLEX, Discover, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club International, Health or Flex Spending Account Cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and G Pay.
