on the corner of MLK Way and Mason St.

GYN services provide evaluation and treatment for various medical concerns specific to gynecological care. Services are provided by experienced women’s health nurse practitioners. Examples of medical conditions frequently evaluated in this clinic include but are not limited to the following:
- vaginal infections
- contraception advice and prescriptions
- insertion and removal of IUDs and Nexplanon (depending on insurance coverage for the IUD or implant device)
- period irregularities and concerns
- urinary tract infections
- sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment
- pregnancy testing and referrals
- sexual dysfunction
- breast health assessment
- pelvic exams and pap smears
Most appointments can be scheduled by using our online scheduling system in MyJMUChart or by calling (540) 568-6178 during business hours. Appointments are typically available within 24-48 hours (Monday-Friday). Appointments are 20 minutes long, which provides ample time for your evaluation and to have all your questions answered. Students with immediate health needs can also walk into our 1st floor location. Students that walk in will see a nurse to determine the best course of action.

Oral contraceptives (birth control pills)
The health center pharmacy carries a variety of prescription birth control pills. Check the list of prescriptions that are available: medications available at the JMU health center pharmacy.
Out of refills? If your birth control prescription is from the health center and you need a renewal, you can request it using our online form. Log on to MyJMUChart and select the Oral Contraceptive Renewal form.
