Program Description

Embark on a transformative journey to Iceland in June 2026 and immerse yourself in a unique study abroad program focused on personal finance and finance fundamentals!

We will get to an unforgettable journey to Iceland, a land of stunning landscapes, rich culture, and unique natural wonders. This program combines academic rigor with experiential learning as you explore Iceland's stunning landscapes and delve into the principles of managing personal finances effectively. This study abroad experience is designed not only to immerse you in the beauty and history of Iceland but also to challenge you physically. Throughout this trip, you can expect a range of activities that will include exploring rugged terrains, hiking through breathtaking landscapes, and walking between 3-6 miles on some days. Due to the physical demands of this trip, it is important that all participants are in good health and prepared for the adventure. Being in good physical condition will ensure you can fully enjoy all that Iceland has to offer, from its majestic waterfalls and glaciers to its vibrant cities and cultural sites. Get ready to embrace the excitement, learn, and explore one of the most extraordinary places on Earth!

After our week in Iceland, we’ll head south to sunny Portugal, where rich history and vibrant modern culture come together. From the cobbled streets and pastel buildings of Lisbon to the riverside charm and iconic bridges of Porto, students will explore Portugal’s unique blend of old-world heritage and contemporary creativity. We’ll visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, experience hands-on cultural activities, and relax on Portugal’s stunning Atlantic beaches—soak up the sun while immersing in coastal life.

Prior to leaving, we will meet in person once a week for a 75-minute lecture after Spring Break during a mutually agreed upon time.

During our time abroad, we will have minimum coursework - though some work will be expected to be delivered online.

After our trip - students will have to complete one final assignment.

This program combines a dual-country experience with a course in Finance for Non-Business Majors, designed especially for students in hospitality and related fields. By connecting financial concepts to real-world industries—like renewable energy in Iceland and tourism and wine in Portugal—students gain practical skills in global contexts, making finance both relevant and engaging.
