Open, engaging, innovative...

JMU’s College of Business has repeatedly been ranked among the nation’s very best. As a result, enrollment has doubled in the quarter-century since Zane Showker Hall was built to accommodate 2,400 students. Today, to engage more than 5,000 students, faculty members must find ways to make the overcrowded space function: repurposing hallways as study spaces, transforming closets into sales practice studios and creating offices in lobby nooks.

Now, with your help, we can create a modern Learning Complex that incorporates an updated Showker Hall as well as brand new space that together will optimize the outcomes of the JMU business learning model for our students.

Help invest in an advanced Learning Complex featuring more than 210,000 square feet of space — and exciting new potential, including:

  • New and refurbished classrooms with flexible configurations and state-of-the-art technologies to maximize student collaboration and entrepreneurial activity
  • Space for our Digital Marketing Program—recipient of more awards in the Google Online AdWords Marketing challenge than any other program in the world, resulting in more than $50,000 in winnings given to local nonprofits
  • Cutting-edge technology for cybersecurity courses and research projects
  • Expanded facilities for programs such as the Center for Economic Education which prepares K-12 teachers to teach economic literacy
  • Private space to host our executives, including those in our Entrepreneurs-in-Residence Program, our C-Suite Speaker series and career/professional development activities
  • Problem-based learning classrooms for an advanced business
education experience
  • Reserved space for recruiters to meet with students—key in continuing to build strong CoB-employer relationships
  • Collaborative space for students, visiting international faculty and expatriates to explore global business issues—virtually and in person
  • A new tutoring laboratory
  • Offices and conference rooms for faculty and new centers, including Business Center space
  • A 225-seat dining facility that can also serve as student study space
  • Flexible, multi-function space for large dinners, guest speakers and career events
  • Informal student gathering areas for group and individual study and meeting rooms

  • Expanded Capital Markets Lab, giving students hands-on experience with financial software, such as our Bloomberg terminals, to prepare them for jobs on Wall Street and beyond
