Welcome aboard, New Honors Dukes! Voyage is your opportunity to get anchored in the Honors College before the rest of campus arrives for the fall semester. Participating students will have the chance to move on campus early, meet fellow Honors peers, develop key skills for success, engage in forward-thinking conversations about relevant and critical topics, and get connected to your new home on campus.
This year, Cole Baker Bagwell will lead students in developing the human skills needed to navigate our brave new AI-driven world with clarity and confidence. Drawing on two decades in sales, strategy, and leadership and more than 30 years studying mindfulness and cognitive science, her work focuses on helping students understand their minds, develop the capabilities that make them most human, and assert their agency as technology and humanity converge.
Cole's seminar will immerse students in thought provoking discussion, equip them with tools to inspire clarity and confidence, and empower their minds with a mindful approach for engaging with AI in their academic work and lives.

All incoming first-year Honors students are eligible to participate in Voyage.
Voyage is a chance to get a head start on your Honors experience before the rest of campus arrives. You'll move in early, meet fellow Honors students, and build skills and connections that will carry you through your time at JMU.
Wednesday, August 19 – Friday, August 21, 2026. You will stay on campus after Voyage for the university’s Weeks of Welcome programming.
No. Voyage is a full-program commitment. All participants are expected to be present for the entirety of the program, August 19–21.
All activities take place on campus and in the Harrisonburg community. You will move into your assigned residence hall for the academic year, so no separate housing arrangements are needed.
Residence Life will reach out at the beginning of August with information about housing assignments and how to schedule your move-in. You will sign up for a move-in a window between 8am - 11am.
We will eat together in the dining halls or share catered meals in our meeting space. You can share any dietary restrictions in the registration form.
Voyage costs $160 – The cost includes all meals from Wednesday morning to Friday afternoon and any other programming materials. If you are living on campus, housing with early move-in is included.

Yes! All incoming first-year Honors students are eligible to participate in Voyage regardless of their housing assignment.
Voyage is available to Honors students only.
Full refunds are available until registration closes on July 24. After that, a 50% refund is available until August 4. No refunds will be issued beginning August 5.
