As the frequency of immigration-related inspections has increased in some areas of the United States, principally in border regions, the ISSS strongly advises international students and their dependents to carry their immigration documents.
Required to carry:
- I-94
- What is an I-94?
- Print I-94 from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website; click on "Get Most Recent I-94/I-95."
- Photo ID, such as:
- JACard
- Passport
- Driver's License
- Electronic copies on your phone (strongly recommended):
- I-94
- I-20 or DS-2019
- Passport
When traveling outside of the Harrisonburg area, we recommend that students and their dependents carry original documentation of their status and identity (e.g., I-94, I-20, and passport).
