Steps of Wilson Hall

JMU’s Student Veterans Association chapter will officially open a space in Wilson Hall for any current or retired U.S. military members to use as a quiet place to study, collaborate or socialize.  All are welcome to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

JMU President Jonathan R. Alger will speak in remembrance of Sept. 11, followed by Eric Gage, program manager for the Student Veterans of America, and Dr. Jennifer Taylor, JMU SVA chapter advisor. Light refreshments will be served following a tour of the center.

To further observe the opening, there will be a resource fair for all local community veterans starting at noon in the Highlands Room, Festival Conference and Student Center.

First Day of Classes - Winter Session 1W1, 2W1, 3W1

Add/Drop Deadline- Winter session 1W1. Withdrawing from a class after the drop deadline results in a W grade and corresponding tuition charges, if applicable.

Last day to add with department permission deadline - Winter session 1W1. Student must register for course on MyMadison.

Add/Drop Deadline- Winter session 2W1. Withdrawing from a class after the drop deadline results in a W grade and corresponding tuition charges, if applicable.

Add/Drop Deadline- Winter session 3W1. Withdrawing from a class after the drop deadline results in a W grade and corresponding tuition charges, if applicable.

Withdraw with W grade deadline and adjust credit repeat option. After this date, they will need to consult with instrutor for WP/WF.

Classes End - Winter session 1W1

Final exam held on last class meeting.

Add with department permission - Winter session 2W1. Student must register for course on MyMadison.

Classes begin for winter session 1W2

Add/Drop Deadline- Winter session 1W2. Withdrawing from a class after the drop deadline results in a W grade and corresponding tuition charges, if applicable.

Withdraw with W grade deadline and adjust credit repeat option. After this date they will consult wtih instructor for WP/WF.

Add with department permission - Winter session 1W2. Student must register for course on MyMadison.

Withdraw with W grade deadline and adjust credit repeat option. After this date they will must consult with instructor for WP/WF grade.

Add with department permission - Winter session 3W1. Student must register for course on MyMadison.

Classes End - Winter session 1W2 and 2W1

Final exam held on last class meeting.

Withdraw with W grade deadline and adjust credit repeat option. After this date they will must consult with instructor for WP/WF grade.

Classes do not meet.

Classes begin for spring 2025 semester and 1st block.

Assessment Day - classes do not meet prior to 3:55pm

Assessment Day is February 10, 2026. Students will receive an instructional email on February 9, 2026, if they have 45-70 credit hours and are required to participate. Classes on February 10, 2026, will be canceled from 8 AM to 3:55 PM to allow students time to test. Assessment Day occurs separately from major-specific assessments. Withdrawal from University Deadline - cancellation of tuition charges and refund.  Student must withdraw from all classes to be eligible.  Must submit a non-returning/LOA notice to be eligible.

Add with department permission deadline - 1st block. Student must register for course on MyMadison.

Withdraw with W grade deadline and adjust credit repeat option. After this date they will receive the letter grade earned unless other arrangements made with professor.

Classes End - 1st block. Final Exam held on last class meeting.

Classes begin for spring 2nd block.

Spring break - classes do not meet.
