Ride the Bus
Date: March 2-6, 2026
Time: HDPT buses color routes serving the off-campus apartments typically operate between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10am-11pm on Saturday.
Location: Service between common off-campus student housing complexes to campus is provided by the HDPT color routes. Most buses run from bus stops at the housing complexes to Hartman Hall, UREC, Festival, Godwin Transit Center or the Quad in under 16 minutes. Weeknights and evening service are provided by the Gold Line and Silver Line.
Explore how to travel to and from campus on the bus. The Dukes Ride campaign promotes the benefits of commuting on the bus, including cost savings (since the bus is always fare free), convenience, and reducing environmental impact compared to driving and parking on campus.
The JMU Institute for Stewardship of the Natural World, which coordinates the collaborative efforts of the university to promote environmental stewardship and sustainability, is planning the week in concert with the The President's Council on Health and Well-Being, which is charged with coordinating and providing campus-wide oversight of efforts for promoting health and well-being at JMU. The activty supports JMU's adoption of the Okanagan Charter.
