Vision

Enriching all students' learning opportunities through creative activities, research, and scholarship.

Purpose

S-CAR supports JMU’s vision “To be the national model for the engaged university” and embodies several values of the institution including academic quality, diversity, innovation, and student focus. S-CAR recognizes academic and student support units are the primary means by which students have opportunities to engage in research and creative activities. As such, the Coordinator of S-CAR provides support for faculty, staff, administrators, and students to enhance and increase these opportunities. She also provides support through sharing successful strategies for and examples of establishing, growing, and enhancing existing or new research programs.
