What is NCUR?

NCUR is an annual event that provides a platform for undergraduate students to present their research and creative works. It brings together students from various disciplines to share their research findings, network, and engage in professional development.

When and where is the next NCUR conference?

The next NCUR meeting will take place on April 13-15, 2026 in Richmond, VA.

How can I participate at NCUR?

STEP ONE: Submit an abstract to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) before the December 5th deadline.

STEP TWO: Apply to the JMU internal application for a funding opportunity to attend the NCUR program. 

STAIR will cover the travel and registration costs of students whose abstracts have been accepted by NCUR.

What information should I provide in my JMU application?

In the application you need to submit:

  1. Abstract title (no longer than 30 words)
  2. Authors list
  3. Abstract text (no longer than 300 words)
  4. Choice of presentation format 1st and 2nd choice (The options are Film, Visual Arts Displays, Oral Presentations, Performances, or Poster Presentations)
  5. Discipline area
  6. Supplemental materials (electronic files for artwork)
  7. Name and email of Mentor or Adviser

Applications are no longer accepted for the internal application. Please proceed to the NCUR website to submit an abstract before the December 5 deadline.
