
What is UREC's New Dukes Winter Welcome?
This January, we are challenging all New Dukes (new spring 2023 students) to get active by trying programs and winning prizes! Here’s how to join:
- Register for New Dukes Winter Welcome on urecregister.jmu.edu (registration opens January 10)
- Attend programs* at UREC
- Earn points and get entered to win prizes
When is Winter Welcome?
- Winter Welcome Dates: January 16 – January 28, 2023
- Registration Opens: Tuesday, January 10, 2023
- Registration Deadline: There is no deadline to register. If you register for the Winter Welcome on the last day and participate in a program, you will still receive one point and one entry!
Winter Welcome is a program offered for new spring 2023 JMU students ONLY.

How do I earn points?
Here's how the points work:
- Earn 1 point for every new program you participate in during Winter Welcome (see list and links below)
- You cannot earn multiple points for attending the same program multiple times.
- You will receive 1 entry to prizes for every point you earn.
- You may only earn points AFTER you are registered for the Winter Welcome program itself. Points will not be awarded retroactively.
How do I win prizes?
- Weekly prize packs:
- UREC will post the Winter Welcome Leaderboard on Monday, January 23 via email.
- Leaderboards will be for points earned Monday - Sunday of the week prior.
- The top 10 participants at the end of the Winter Welcome will be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
- Grand prizes ($50 gift cards and an Amazon Echo Dot)
- UREC is giving away (2) $50 Amazon gift cards and (1) Amazon Echo Dot to the Top 3 finishers!
- In the case of a tie within the top 3, we will select the winners randomly.
