Note: There is NO emergency room facility in the University Health Center. In the event of a life-threatening emergency call 540-568-6911 from on-campus or 911 from off-campus.
Urgent Care is located in the Student Success Center, accessible through an outside entrance at 724 S.Mason Street. Enter address into GPS for accurate directions.
Urgent Care is an option for students who have certain urgent medical needs. These include conditions that require prompt attention. Students can walk-in to our Urgent Care clinic during business hours for the following medical problems:
- Female UTIs
- Cuts/injuries including muscle or tendon strains, ligament sprains and bone injuries that occured in the last 2 weeks. On-site x-rays are available if needed
- Vomiting for more than 24 hours
- Head injuries
- Acute allergic reactions (trouble breathing, hives, lip/tongue swelling)
Other issues that can be seen in Urgent Care, but are better served speaking to a nurse first, include:
- Ingrown toenails
- Abscesses or boils

There are common medical conditions such as fever, sore throat, upper respiratory illness, headache, abdominal pain, chest pain, or pain in other areas of the body that are best evaluated and treated through our General Medicine Clinic. You can make an appointment for these through MyJMUChart or by calling 540-568-6178 and requesting to speak to a nurse to help determine your best course of action. We also have self-care guides which are helpful for students with common illnesses.

Thursday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Open for lunch 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
