Join the CISR team and gain real-world experience addressing global humanitarian and development challenges. Through internships with CISR, James Madison University students have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while developing skills in research, project management, grant development, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

CISR offers unpaid internships for JMU undergraduate and graduate students during the fall and spring semesters, as well as the summer term. Available opportunities vary based on current CISR projects and organizational needs. During the academic year, internships typically require up to 10 hours per week; summer internship hours vary on a case-by-case basis.

Students may arrange to earn academic credit for CISR internships through their departments (if they offer a relevant internship course number) or through University Studies. CISR can support you in initiating that process.

Any students interested in interning with CISR are encouraged to complete an internship interest form prior to the next internship cycle. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; however, students should submit their interest form by:

• June 30 for fall semester internships
• November 30 for spring semester internships
• April 1 for summer internships
