Mission Statement:
GECHS-UCI was established at UCI in 1999 by Dr. Richard A. Matthew with the following objectives: undertake original, interdisciplinary and participatory research; collaborate with academics and policymakers in developing countries; develop policy recommendations; and educate the public on the ways in which environmental change interacts with other transnational forces to affect the lives and welfare of individuals and groups around the world, especially in developing countries.
