JMU has a state-wide guaranteed admission agreement with the Virginia Community College System and Richard Bland College. The purposes of these agreements are to ease the transfer process to JMU and to promote the close coordination of academic courses, programs and degrees offered by the Virginia community college and Richard Bland, and JMU.
Students participating in a JMU Guaranteed Admission Agreement (GAA) program are required to submit (1) an application for admission to JMU and (2) a completed Letter of Intent to their community college counselor. The Letter of Intent outlines the requirements for guaranteed admission; clicking on the college links below will open the Letter of Intent form for each school.
Admission to JMU is guaranteed to a student who completes an appropriate associate degree, has a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and meets additional admission requirements as outlined in the individual agreements. Students must meet GAA criteria at every college attended. Guaranteed admission is to the university; students may be required to fulfill or complete additional admission or progression standards for particular majors.
In addition to the degrees below, JMU has specific program articulation agreements with
certain community colleges for Business, Engineering and Human Services (BRCC)
and RN-BSN (BRCC, LFCC, PVCC and SVCC).
