Description:

Supervisors have a responsibility to maintain a safe and productive working environment for employees. Employees who come to work under the influence of alcohol or other drugs can reduce the safety of the workplace and the productivity of our workforce. All supervisors should attend this training to learn more about what to do when you observe an employee who is displaying impairment in the workplace from the use of alcohol or other drugs.

This training will assist supervisors in learning how to:

  • Understand the supervisor's responsibility in preventing alcohol and drugs from the workplace
  • Define reasonable suspicion and be able to recognize behaviors that may indicate impairment
  • Identify the process to make referrals for evaluation and treatment
  • Learn communication strategies when handling these difficult situations
  • Outline resources for supervisors

This training is designed to comply with JMU Policy #1110 - Alcohol and Other Drugs. All supervisors are strongly encouraged to attend.
