2 Apr 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM Remote Work: Supervision (TD2391) Even supervisors with years of experience can find their skills stretched when managing remote employees. Join us as we discuss how to apply your existing leadership skills, and what additional skills are needed, to lead your remote employees well.
2 Apr 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM Hiring Foreign Nationals (TD2462) This workshop will provide an overview about hiring a foreign national at JMU, whether it's for a short visit or in a permanent position. We will review different visa categories, JMU sponsorship policies, taxation, and the timeline to file paperwork. There will be plenty of time for your questions to be addressed.
9 Apr 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Student Employment Essentials (TD1462) For new and seasoned supervisors of student employees, this workshop will focus on the student employment process/hiring paperwork, supervising student employees, policies and procedures and other resources to help you in the student employee-supervisor relationship. General information will be covered in each session with specific topics scheduled each month to help answer any questions or to assist supervisors in their positions.

15 Apr 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Resume Tips (TD2390) Look at any resume template and you’ll find a similar format: education, experience, and additional skills. So, how do you make yourself stand out? It’s difficult to be creative while also including the necessary information. In this workshop, we will discuss the must-have's and the could-have's of good resume writing.
15 Apr 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Decoding Ambiguity (TD2654) These tough situations often fall in the “gray area” of leadership and require leaders to use their judgment to make decisions. In this session, we will discuss tips for making these tough decisions well and how to confidently live with them after.
16 Apr 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Becoming a Committed Ally (TD2657) In this session, we will discuss diversity and inclusion concepts and equip you with the tools needed to open yourself to new perspectives. And, we’ll learn how to commit to our journey to allyship, and how to practice allyship in the real world.

21 Apr 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Grants: Post-Award Practices & Procedures (TD1502)  This workshop is intended for individuals that expect to receive grant funding in the near future or will be expected to provide administrative oversight to a project. This ‘post-award’ overview will discuss accounting practices and procedures, documentation and record retention, re-budgeting and no-cost extension requests and close-out of a sponsored project.

22 Apr 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Emotional Intelligence 2.0 (TD1753) Emotional intelligence (EQ) provides a way to understand, assess and control emotions. Knowing what emotional intelligence is and knowing how to develop emotional intelligence to improve your life are two different things. This workshop will provide information on emotional intelligence as well as focus on how to develop it.
23 Apr 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM safeTALK: Suicide Prevention (TD5004) The program is designed to help participants age 15 or older to monitor the effect of false societal beliefs that can cause otherwise caring and helpful people to miss, dismiss, or avoid suicide alerts and to practice the TALK steps to move past these three barriers. 
28 Apr 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM CliftonStrengths (TD1695) Rooted in positive psychology, this workshop uses your Top 5 Strengths from the CliftonStrengths assessment (completed before the session) to guide you through the practical Name, Claim, and Aim process. Discover how to understand, embrace, and grow your strengths to reach your full potential.
29 Apr 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Gateways to Inclusion (TD1829)  In today's diverse workplace, tense moments occur. When you hear something offensive, when you’ve said something wrong, when something you say has been taken out of context...these are things that can lead people to feel hurt, embarrassed, angry or resentful. But such negative encounters don’t have to stay negative. When handled properly, they can be transformed into “gateways” that lead to better working relationships and increased understanding.
30 Apr 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM Communicating Non-Defensively (TD1037)  In this workshop, we will talk about why our first instinct is to fight and how we can overcome that instinct in order to choose a strategy that leads to effective resolution.
30 Apr 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Social Identity Exploration: Self-awareness in Supervision & Individual Identity Exploration (TD2444) This workshop will provide an opportunity to understand the complexity of identity and reflect on how our own held identities influence our interactions with others, coworkers, friends, mentees, supervisees.
5 May 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM Prosci Refresher (TD2668) Your Prosci workshop included terminology that is proving to be an important part of your role in the Reengineering Madison implementation. This 30-minute, interactive session, will give you an opportunity to refresh your memory! 
5 May 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Design Accessibility in Canva: Title II Compliant Design (TD2698) You’ll practice picking clear fonts and font sizes, checking color contrast so words stand out and adding alt text to images so screen readers can describe them. By the end of this workshop, you’ll know simple steps that make your designs look great and meet accessibility best practices.
6 May 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM  Routine Preventative Maintenance (TD2686)  Do you have insurance benefits though JMU? If so, join us as we review top tips and resources for using your state benefits package to stay healthy and save money.
12 May 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM Editing and Proofreading Streamlined (TD2569)  This is the first session of this two-part workshop. Participants will be introduced to principles of editing and become familiar with the JMU style guide, whose guidance will be applied to participants’ choice of documents in the second session.
