Vaccinations and Boosters
The vaccination FAQs describe where to obtain a vaccination and how to inform JMU of your vaccination status in a confidential manner.

Due to public health benefits to the JMU and local communities, JMU recommends everyone to receive a COVID-19 booster shot when they are eligible.
Those who have received the booster shot are well-protected against developing symptomatic illness and would be unlikely to need to use medical resources. Data from clinical trials showed that a booster shot increased the immune response in trial participants with up-to-date vaccines. With an increased immune response, people should have improved protection against getting infected with COVID-19. Clinical trials have also shown that a booster shot helped prevent severe disease. These benefits to the individual and the community highlight the rationale for this expectation.

Masks
Effective Monday, April 11, 2022, masks are no longer required in classrooms; however, they are still required in some settings, as detailed here.
When areas of campus will continue to require masks, they will be designated with appropriate signs.
Quarantine and Isolation
Quarantine and isolation are strategies used to prevent transmission of COVID-19. There are specific requirements for employees and students related to quarantine and isolation.

Public Events
There are specific requirements for some public events, including athletic events and arts performances.
Testing
Students, staff and faculty can be tested at the open testing site on the second floor of SSC Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–noon through May 6. Self-test kits are available to students, faculty and staff at the same location 1–4 p.m. Monday through Friday as supplies are available. Please be prepared to show your JACard.
May 9-13: take home tests are available 9 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m., SSC second floor outside the UHC entrance.
Take home test are also available at the Pharmacy during regular operating hours.
Employee Operations
Guiding Principles
JMU’s employee guidelines are intended to be aligned and consistent with local and state guidance. JMU will also follow recommendations from the federal government including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Commonwealth of Virginia, including the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), the Department of Human Resource Management, and Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH).

Requirements for Exceptions and Exemptions
Employees who are seeking an exception to a university requirement or policy related to COVID-19 should email COVID19employee@jmu.edu. Your request will be reviewed, and you will receive a response within two business days.
