Due to public health benefits to the JMU and local communities, JMU recommends everyone to receive a COVID-19 booster shot when they are eligible

Those who have received the booster shot are well-protected against developing symptomatic illness and would be unlikely to need to use medical resources. Data from clinical trials showed that a booster shot increased the immune response in trial participants with up-to-date vaccines. With an increased immune response, people should have improved protection against getting infected with COVID-19. Clinical trials have also shown that a booster shot helped prevent severe disease. These benefits to the individual and the community highlight the rationale for this expectation.
