JMU faculty regularly collaborate with international scholars whether establishing a formal partnership between institutions or as informal joint authors of new scholarship.

International Collaboration

In pursuing a more direct scholarship or research connection with an international scholar, IRES also offers restricted party screening for those planning a formal or informal partnership with an international scholar. As scholars consider a new research relationship, IRES can provide assurance that the party is not on a US Government restricted party list or help weigh the risks of a direct relationship with a scholar or institution listed across the growing list of restricted international parties.

Requesting Restricted Party Screening

JMU scholars and staff can request IRES to perform a restricted party screening for entities under consideration as collaboration partners. University employees or units needing restricted party and/or export recipient screening should contact IRES by emailing IRES@jmu.edu or call by phone (540) 568-4449. In either case, you will need to email a list of all known parties (individuals, companies, and universities) that are party to the planned activity along with their country of citizenship or business location, if known, to IRES@jmu.edu. Most screening is done in 1 or 2 business days.
