Associate Director, Office of Research Integrity & Compliance
Carrie Tillman is the Associate Director in the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance (ORIC) at James Madison University. In this role, she supports the implementation, maintenance, and assessment of research compliance and ethics activities across several key areas, including human subjects research, animal care and use, biosafety, and financial conflict of interest (FCOI). Carrie serves as the ex-officio member for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and as the alternate ex-officio for the FCOI Committee. She also manages the university’s electronic Research Administration (eRA) software system as Site Administrator.
Carrie holds a B.A. in Psychology from James Madison University and an M.A. in Counseling from Seton Hall University. She began her career in research administration as an undergraduate in JMU’s Office of Sponsored Programs and later joined the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance in 2013. She earned the Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation in 2015 and was promoted to Associate Director in 2022.
