Background

Carrie Tillman is the Associate Director in the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance (ORIC) at James Madison University. She provides leadership in implementing, maintaining, and assessing research compliance and ethics programs across key areas, including human subjects research, animal care and use, biosafety, and financial conflict of interest (FCOI). Carrie serves as an ex-officio member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and as the alternate ex-officio for the FCOI Committee. She also oversees the university’s electronic Research Administration (eRA) system as Site Administrator, supporting efficient research administration processes.

Carrie holds a B.A. in Psychology from James Madison University and an M.A. in Counseling from Seton Hall University. She began her career in research administration as an undergraduate in JMU’s Office of Sponsored Programs and later joined ORIC in 2013. She earned the Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation in 2015 and was promoted to Associate Director in 2022.
