Ultimate is one of the quickest growing sports worldwide. It is a fast pace game that combines the skills from soccer, football, and basketball. The sport is as much of a physical challenge as it is a mental test. High level competition, skill development, and physical fitness are all major aspects of the program. As a highly competitive program, the JMU women’s team has notable accomplishments such as a second place finish at sectionals in 2016 and a second place finish at regionals in 2015. Our team consists of a wonderful group of girls who are close both on and off the field. We continually strive to keep a balance between having fun and serious competition.

Tryouts are only held in the fall and begin the week after student org night. We do not require any previous ultimate Frisbee knowledge to be able to tryout, during this process we look for athletic ability and receptiveness to feedback. However, knowing how to throw a Frisbee prior is a plus! Many of our team members played various varsity sports in high school including, but not limited to soccer, volleyball, field hockey etc.

We practice all year long Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-7pm as well as Sundays 1-3pm. The fall is focused on skill development and team cohesion and we usually attend three tournaments. The spring is our main season and we attend 5-6 tournaments. Members are expected to attend all practices and attempt to arrange their class schedule around those times.
