Hitesh Suresh (he/him) joined UREC in 2025 and serves as the Interim Coordinator of Sport Clubs. In this role, he provides leadership and operational oversight for JMU’s sport clubs program, working closely with student officers, professional staff, and campus partners to ensure safe, organized, and inclusive opportunities for student participation.

Hitesh holds a Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Leadership from James Madison University (2025) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications from Jain University in Bengaluru, India (2022). He brings over five years of combined experience in athletics operations, recreation management, and event coordination.

His diverse professional background includes serving as a Sport Club Specialist with UREC, Graduate Assistant in the Hart School, Athletics Building Manager at JMU’s Atlantic Union Bank Center, and a media intern with Awaken the Sportsman in You (ATSIY) in India. Internationally, Hitesh has supported operations for prestigious events such as the FIBA Asia Cups (2017, 2018) and the NCAA Women’s Final Four (2024). At JMU, he has also contributed to esports leadership as Discord Manager for JMU Esports, advancing engagement among 200+ members.

He contributed to a Guinness World Record (2015) event in India and was recognized as an International Mathematics Olympiad Achiever (2011). At Lake Owego, Hitesh supervised 300+ children as a Camp Counselor and Basketball Coach, and was honored to be recognized among the camp’s top 10 coaches a highlight he continues to cherish.

As an athlete, Hitesh competed at the state level in basketball and represented Karnataka in the National Fistball Championship. These experiences continue to shape his passion for program development, student engagement, and the integration of technology in recreation.

Outside of work, Hitesh enjoys sports photography, swimming, and cooking. His favorite part of working at UREC is the opportunity to empower student leaders and create meaningful recreation experiences that foster both personal and community growth.
