Stephanie Nielsen (she/her/hers) joined the UREC team in September of 2021 and currently serves as the Assistant Director for Member Services. As the Assistant Director for Member Services, she oversees the Member Services student staff and the daily operations at the UREC Welcome Center /Equipment Room and at the UPARK Gatehouse. She is also Lifeguard Instructor and CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor certified.

Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport and Recreation Management with a General Business minor from James Madison University. Stephanie continued her journey in collegiate recreation at Western Illinois University where she earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology; Concentration in Sport Management and served as a Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports. After graduating, Stephanie took a job with Texas A&M University-Commerce Campus Recreation in Commerce, Texas as the Assistant Director for Facility Operations and Aquatics. After three years in that position, she then took a job as the Assistant Director for Facility Operations and Aquatics at the University of Michigan Department of Recreational Sports. Stephanie is a member of NIRSA. 

Stephanie grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. She lives with her partner, Will, in Harrisonburg, VA. Stephanie loves running and being outdoors with her rescue dog, Teddi. She also enjoys traveling to see family and friends and cheering on the NY Giants and Georgia Bulldogs. Her favorite aspect of UREC is the family-oriented team environment and being surrounded by students and professionals who support and encourage each other to be active and live their most fulfilled life.
