  • Primaries: Dark Purple, Gold, Black, White
  • Alternate: Marigold, Purple, Light Purple, Dark Gold, Light Gold, Slate
Typography (fonts)
  • Titles: Artegra Family
  • Body: Artegra Family
  • Font colors: Use of text color largely depends on the background color. High contrast is preferred. Limiting ‘color-on-color’ text use is suggested, as well as the use of gold as a text color generally.
Brand Art (watermarks & logo overlays)

Organizational watermarks and logos should be used in very limited situations. If content is provided by an organization, or tightly repackaged from an organization, there can be considerations made for inclusion of logos and wordmarks.

  • Graphics (without images): Should be saved as PNGs

Sizing: Disregard information online that gives you exact display size for social media images. Those sizes aren’t always flexible, meaning if you size an image for the exact timeline size, when a user clicks into the image it may be undersized. What matters more is the aspect ratio of the image: the ratio between the width and length of the image.

  • Aspect ratio
    • Facebook: Because of how images are displayed on mobile timelines, keep graphics for Facebook in a landscape orientation (wide aspect ratio)
      • Wide 3:2 or 4:3
    • Twitter: Because of how images are displayed on mobile timelines, keep graphics for Twitter in a landscape orientation (wide aspect ratio)
      • Wide 3:2 or 4:3
    • Instagram: Unlike Facebook and Twitter, user on Instagram will be exposed to the full image (no cropped timeline thumbnails) so this platform is the most flexible with aspect ratios. However, vertical or square images are desirable because they take up more screen space on a user’s phone.
      • Square 1:1
      • Vertical 4:5
      • Wide 3:2

Pixel dimensions: The shortest size of an image or graphic should be no smaller than 1080 pixels. Minimum pixel sizes relative to their aspect ratios are listed below.

  • 1:1 = 1080px x 1080px
  • 3:2 = 1621px x 1080px
  • 4:3 = 1440px x 1080px
  • 4:5 = 1080px x 1350px
  • 16:9 =1920px x 1080px

Resolution: It doesn't make any discernible difference what ppi setting you use for web images. It's the pixel dimension (pixel width and pixel height) of an image which are important.
