Housing
The Honors College offers students the opportunity to live in dedicated honors housing. Over 300 first- and second-year Honors students live together in Shenandoah Hall. Living in honors housing is a great way to make new friends, and to enjoy honors programming without leaving the comfort of the dorm. Upper-class Honors College students also have preferred placement in the Apartments on Grace.
Activities
The Honors College offers frequent activities each semester that enhance the student experience. Diverse offerings focus on social connection, academic exploration, wellness, community service, and professional development. The activities connect honors students and provide diverse experiences designed to expand their view of the world. Students are informed of upcoming activities every week in an Honors College Canvas newsletter and are encouraged to follow the Honors College on Instagram for event reminders.
Honors Leadership
There are many ways for students to show their leadership potential in the Honors College through involvement in student organizations. Current opportunities include:
Madison Honors Leadership Council (MHLC)
The Madison Honors Leadership Council serves as the student government body for the JMU Honors College, representing the interests of Honors students, developing a sense of community through events and service projects, and working with Honors staff to develop student-centered programs. MHLC plays a direct role in shaping the future of the Honors College. MHLC hosts a recruitment season every fall semester.

Honors Ambassadors
Being part of Honors Ambassadors prepares students to showcase the Honors College by sharing how it contributes to their collegiate experience. Ambassadors provide positive student contact for prospective students and their families, current students, and campus and community partners. Honors Ambassadors are diverse students whose backgrounds and majors speak to the wide array of prospective students interested in JMU. Honors Ambassadors recruit new members every fall and spring semester.

Honors Program Board (HPB)
The Honors Program Board works closely with the Honors College faculty and staff to plan engaging events for honors students. The Honors College strives to be a place for everyone, and the HPB fosters that value through hosting innovative programs, building campus and local partnerships, and encouraging student participation and community-building. HPB recruits new members every spring semester.
