Michele has worked at JMU since 1984, first within Dining Services and more recently, within the JMU Health Center providing medical nutrition therapy for JMU students.

Michele has been a consultant dietician for a local retirement community and for several residential facilities serving individuals with severe intellectual and physical disabilities.  She has also served the local community as a volunteer board member of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

Professionally, Michele has been active with the American Dietetic Association. She has been published in their journal publication, presented at their annual meeting and in 1995 was selected as one of their Charter Fellows.

What she enjoys most about working in college health:

“I love working with students who are, maybe for the first time, taking personal responsibility for their own health and for health or nutrition-related day-to-day choices. I especially love watching a student experience that 'light bulb' moment, the moment that a student feels empowered to make a positive change.”
