Education and Clinical Training:

Phyllis received her bachelor of science in nursing from Albright College, before receiving her master of science in women’s health in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Nurse Practitioner Program from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at James Madison University.

Certifications:

National Certification Corporation (NCC)- Women’s Health Care (WHNP-BC)

International Association for Forensic Nursing Certification- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner- Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A)

Basic Life Support CPR Certification

IRB Certification

Professional Experience:

Phyllis has over two decades of experience as a women’s health nurse practitioner. She also has experience teaching nursing; currently she instructs a summer graduate nursing course for family nurse practitioner students at JMU. Part of her professional experience includes involvement with clinical trials for research.  Additionally, she is involved in the Rockingham County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and is a member of the James Madison University Campus Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

What she enjoys most about working in college health:

“The students I see and care for. I enjoy teaching women about their health, bodies, and sexuality.”
