Hart School Fall Career & Internship Fair

Registration will be available on Handshake beginning May 1 and will remain available until full.

Employer Guide

The Hart School Career & Internship Fair is a 1-day event. The registration fee covers your lunch and allows each organization to bring up to two representatives. If you’d like to bring more than two company reps, you may do so for an additional $35 per person. Hart School students from both Hospitality Management and Sport & Recreation Management majors will be present.

  • 8:30-10am: Arrive at JMU's Festival Ballroom, check in, and set up booth
  • 10am-1pm: Career Fair
  • 1-2pm: Lunch card provided for employers to have lunch on campus
  • Parking details and information on mailing displays will be sent out closer to the fair date.  

On-campus interviews can be scheduled with students through Handshake. Interviews are not a formal part of the Career Fair schedule, but you are invited to conduct them in JMU’s University Career Center On-Campus Recruiting space located in the Student Success Center.

Fair Registration Instructions

If you already have a Handshake account:

  • Login to our online recruiting platform Handshake.
  • Click on the "Fairs" link (left side of the page).
  • Search for James Madison University in SCHOOLS
  • Choose "Hospitality and Sport & Recreation Management Career and Internship Fair"
  • Click "Register" and complete the form. After your request has been submitted and approved, you'll receive an email confirmation from JMU’s University Career Center.

If you DO NOT have a Handshake account:

  • You must first register your organization's information on Handshake.
  • Please see the Handshake Getting Started guide for employers.
  • Within 24 hours of registering on Handshake, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • For additional support information, check out the Handshake Employer Help Center or reach out to the JMU Handshake Team at handshake@jmu.edu. 

If you encounter issues with registering for the fair in Handshake and have questions, contact the University Career Center Employer Services Team at handshake@jmu.edu.

Please note that we are only able to accept credit card as method of payment. Any payments sent via check will unfortunately be returned.

  • Corporate/For-Profit fee: $500
  • Local Government/Local Non-Profit & Local 501 (c)(3) Charitable Non-Profits: $100 registration fee
    • Local defined as Harrisonburg and Rockingham County
  • Government Agency: $300 registration fee
  • Non-Profit & 501(c)(3) Charitable Non-Profits: $150 registration fee. Tax ID required*
  • $35 – Additional attendees**

*To verify non-profit status, your tax ID will be requested when you register.

**All registration fees include lunch, one table (8' x 2'), 2 chairs, event publicity, one tablecloth, and 2 representatives (each additional attendee is $35). Each organization is limited to 1 table only.

JMU Campus Partners attending the career fair will be charged $50 for no-showing on the day of the fair or cancelling after Oct. 22, 2025

  • Registration Opens: Thursday, May 1, 2025
  • Last Day to Register: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025 or when all spaces have been reserved (whichever comes first)
  • Interview Room Registration Opens: Thursday, May 1, 2025
  • Cancellation Deadline for 100% refund: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025
  • Cancellation Deadline for 50% refund: Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025
    • No refund will be issued for cancellations received after Oct. 22, 2025

Please note that payment is due at the time your registration is approved. Your registration is not confirmed until payment has been received.
